ORIGAMI CUSTOMS IS:
A customized and handmade line of swimwear, lingerie, and more for folks of all genders.
A company that offers people of any size, shape, age, ability and gender expression a safe way to have customized items that meet their needs.
Each item is individually patterned for a perfect fit (or we'll alter it for free!)
Although my line is for "all bodies", I specialize in making gender- affirming products
Sustainability
From fabric choices to hiring practices to the physical studio itself, we take into account not just the environmental impact of our actions but the ethical and social ramifications, as they are intrinsically tied.
The main component of our community sustainability action is supporting Indigenous sovereignty originations working to return land to its original stewardship. We feel that this is by far the largest step we, as settlers, can take to offset our environmental impact.
We use hyperlocal manufacturing- everything is designed and sewn in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal by a small team and a partner co-op.
Fabrics are chosen for their closed-loop manufacturing and sustainability and are either:
-Deadstock
-Locally milled
-Recycled polyester
-Regenerative bamboo and modal

about
the team
We are a small group of folks of very different backgrounds who work out of a small private studio in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal.
We have diverse identities within the gender spectrum, and have experiences with the gender- affirming gear that we make and sell.
We bring our technical knowledge of fit and customization as well as a human approach to customer care on a person-by-person basis.
about
the owner
Let me introduce myself! I'm Rae, and I own and run Origami Customs
As a Trans, Non-Binary and Queer person, I care deeply about the needs of the community, which is why I offer completely customizable items for people across the gender spectrum.
This company started ten years ago in Honduras, and has traveled with me through five cities and three countries.
Coming from a sociology background, I'm just as committed to seeing companies use their platform to advance social activism as I am focused on creating affirming garments.
While we can't say that any company is truly anti-capitalist, we are trying our hardest to find a better way to be.

community program
We have partnered with many community organizations around the globe to get necessary, affirming products to people with limited access, for free. We currently send out 200 affirming products per month to those with limited access.
giving back
More than 1% of our total yearly earnings plus $500 a month of our tips go to supporting grassroots initiatives and local organizations which align with our values. Each month we choose a new donation partner.

Gender-affirming underwear that actually fits!
As a genderqueer fat person who has a large bust size, I was so happy to find origami customs. Now I have lingerie that is gender-affirming and fits my body well!

The workmanship is incomparable
When they says that they puts their heart into crafting your custom item, they really mean it. Prior to purchasing, I contacted them to make sure my needs were met. In their correspondence, they were respectful, precise and clear. The workmanship is incomparable and it is so comfortable to wear.
